Once you have been cleared to participate in commencement exercises by the registrar’s office, you will be able to sign up for your appointment.
Students will sign up on a first-come, first-served basis; events will not be designated by school or college. Appointments for small groups of graduates will be available at 15-minute intervals over two and a half hours.
Students will be able to choose three guests to accompany them to the Roll Call. Guests will only be admitted if accompanied by their graduating student. The buying or selling Viking Roll Call registration spaces is not permitted.
Caps and Gowns
All candidates participating in Viking Roll Call events must wear proper academic regalia.
Caps and gowns are provided to students who are eligible to participate in commencement at no additional cost. Students may pick up their cap and gown at the bookstore from April 12, 2021 through May 21, 2021. Please contact the bookstore at email@example.com with any questions.
Students who are not able or comfortable with picking up their cap and gown on campus may request to have it shipped by contacting the bookstore.
*Recycling your gown: When you have taken all the photos you want, please consider keeping your graduation cap and gown to pass on to a sibling or friend who might need it. If you’d like to dispose of these items, you might recycle them at one of the white textile recycling bins on campus to ensure that your gown doesn’t end up in the solid waste stream. The textile bins are located at Bates, behind Viking and just beyond Peabody.
All on-campus activities are subject to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ theater venue safety standards and Salem State University health and safety protocols as outlined in the Repopulation Operations plan. The capacity for Viking Roll Call events is based on the indoor limits approved by the Commonwealth in mid-May.
Students graduating in 2020 and guests must complete an Attestation Form on-site to verify they are symptom-free;
All must wear a mask;
All must observe social distancing.
Students are able to remove their mask briefly at the time of the photograph and with the photographer standing a further distance away, based on Commonwealth protocols.
Students should continue to social distance and only pose for photographs with those in their immediate living sphere (e.g., roommates, family whom you live with).

A few weeks prior to commencement, degree candidates will receive detailed information from the photographer. For more information, contact Grad Images.
Any guests taking photographs must be at a distance of 6 feet or more behind the professional photographers and photographs may not be taken from the stage.
