Salem State University Celebrates Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month

Todos/as/x Unidos/as/x: A Generation of Change!

Salem State University recognizes and honors the accomplishments, richness and diversity of the Latinx Community. We invite all at Salem State to join us as we celebrate these achievements through Latinx Heritage Month, or National Hispanic Heritage Month (official government designation), which is celebrated annually from September 15 - October 15.

During this time, we acknowledge and uplift the history, culture, and contributions of those individuals in the United States whose ancestry can be traced to over 20 countries in Latin America, including Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The start of the month, September 15, is significant, as several Latin American countries celebrate their independence from Spain on this day.

Please notify Thomas Alexander if your center, department, or campus organization is running an event in support of Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month. We would be happy to include your event(s) in the upcoming celebration calendar.

The month is sponsored by a collective of groups across campus including Latin American Student Organization (LASO), the Latinx Employee Resource Group (ERG), the Center for Justice and Liberation, and the Inclusive Excellence office.
