Exciting Changes Coming to Residence Life Starting Fall 2019
Ever dreamed of having a double room for yourself? We are offering premium singles in several of our residence halls. In these newly available singles, you will be able to live by yourself in a room made for two.
These premium singles will be offered in Bates Complex as well as on the upper floors of Peabody and Bowditch Hall. This is the perfect opportunity for students who want their own space while living with others in Bates or wanting to live on North Campus as an upperclassman. These spaces will cost $500 more per semester than a typical double in the same building.
Live Anywhere on Campus
Residence Life is shaking things up, and returning students will be able to select from any available room on campus during housing selection and not limited to a specific area on campus. This means that a fourth-year student can decide to live in Peabody Hall while a second-year student can select an apartment in Atlantic Hall, so long as those spaces are available at their selection time. Returning students will continue to select via lottery by class year priority.
Choose Who You Live
You asked, and we listened! Starting this fall, any returning student can live with any returning student they wish to. For example, a rising senior can live with a rising sophomore – doesn’t matter your class year or gender. Please note that students who which to live with a student of a different gender must complete the Gender Inclusive Housing Application (in addition to the standard housing application) by March 31.
Living Learning Communities
Back by popular demand, Living Learning Communities will be available in designated residence halls. Living Learning Communities are the perfect living environment for students who wish to live in housing with students who have similar academic, cultural and social interests. More information to come!
