Food Donation and Textile Recycling Initiatives Support Sustainability

The residence halls and the sustainability office are promoting two sustainability initiatives through the end of the fall semester: donations to the food pantry on campus; and textile recycling.

Signage and food donation boxes in the residence halls remind students to recycle clothing, bedding, and footwear and to donate unwanted food to the campus food pantry before heading home.

Recycle textiles

Clothing, footwear, bedding, pillows, knapsacks can be recycled in the white bins at Bates, behind Viking, and between Peabody and the Parking Garage. Items may be worn but should be clean. Please place in plastic bags to prevent mold.

Donate food

Unopened, nonperishable, unexpired food may be placed in the labeled boxes in the residence hall lobbies and the Bates entryways. Food will be donated to the Salem State Food Pantry to support students in need.

Contribute money

You may also donate to the student-sponsored fundraiser to benefit the campus food pantry.
