How to get around Salem
Salem State’s Viking Shuttle provides transportation to students traveling within the university campuses. The shuttle has four stops:
- Central Campus (between Marsh Hall and the Enterprise Center)
- Harrington Building, South Campus (near the front entrance)
- Meier Hall, North Campus (near the front entrance)
- Peabody Hall, North Campus (near the front entrance)
The Viking Shuttle runs Monday through Friday. See the arrival/departure schedule to plan your trip accordingly.
Student-Run Shuttle (Passenger Van)
Through University Police, Salem State University is proud to offer Student Shuttle services to the students and faculty of Salem State University.
The shuttle service runs on-demand and services predetermined stops around the Salem State community. To request a shuttle, call the shuttle desk at 978.542.7777 (Ext. 7777).
In addition to on-campus stops, the Viking Shuttle brings and picks-up riders from the Newburyport/Rockport MBTA/Commuter Rail line in downtown Salem.

Zagster Bike Sharing has a kiosk available on Central Campus on the Salem Bike Path (next to the Stanley Building). Students get the first two hours of every ride free when they register for a Zagster account with their Salem State email address. Learn more about Zagster in Salem.
Salem State offers discounted Zipcars memberships to students, faculty and staff members. There is no application fee and annual fees are greatly reduced. Zipcars are located in the Central Campus parking lot across from the Bertolon School of Business.
