General Information

Undergraduate students are required to demonstrate competency in basic college mathematics and reading comprehension which must be completed within 30 credits of matriculation.

Accuplacer Exams

Students can satisfy the basic math and reading competencies by scheduling an appointment through Navigate.

How to schedule an appointment:

Incoming Students
First year or transfer students: Login into Navigate: 

1. Select Appointment
2. Care Unit: Orientation
3. Location: Orientation in Person or Virtual /Online
4. Services: Student Placement Testing *First year students will receive an email notification if they are required to take a placement exam. If you have any questions or concerns, please email orientation@salemstate.edu

Current Students 

Current Salem State students: Login into Navigate : 

1. Select Appointment
2. Care Unit: Academic Services
3. Location: Student Competency Testing Center
4. Services: Student Competency Testing
5. Select time and location (in-Person or Virtual/Online)
