Teacher Workshop: Redlining, Roads, Residential Segregation in 20th-century Massachusetts

This interactive teacher workshop will focus on how local developers and policymakers established physical and social boundaries between Boston’s affluent and poorer neighborhoods. Drawing on recent scholarship and local primary sources, we’ll examine Jim Crow, Boston, redlining practices, local debates about housing desegregation laws, and the impact of building Route 128.
