An Interprofessional Education and Collaboration Event

Please join Jonathan Gardner, a self-advocate and decision-maker, person with autism and cancer survivor, his mother and support person, Nancy Gardner and Maura Sullivan, the Director of Government Affairs for The Arc of Massachusetts in a panel session on Supported Decision-making.

The group will discuss and answer questions about Supported Decision-making (SDM). SDM allows adults, including those with disabilities and elders, to maintain their rights, dignity, and independence by choosing one or more trusted supporters to provide assistance making decisions about their lives.

SDM is an alternative to guardianship. Learn how Jonathan uses SDM to remain as independent as possible in his life and how important of a tool it has been for his recent healthcare journey. SDM legislation is currently in front of the Massachusetts Legislature and has enormous support for passage this session. Learn more about this bill and how you can help.
