Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare: Virtual Presentation

Directed by Bill Cunningham

We are delighted to share our first virtual presentation from our spring season. There is some irony in the fact that the Salem State Theatre Department was set to open Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing on April 9 and that we are not presenting a live performance due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shakespeare knew pandemic and survived the Bubonic Plague of his day. Theaters were closed, large gatherings were forbidden and, well, people stayed home.

Fortunately, in 2020, we can connect while being apart. We are sharing a full run of the production on Vimeo. It was filmed about 30 days ago -- a point in time in the production process. There is a bit of a set, some lights and a few costumes. More important, please revel in Shakespeare's words and the pure joy and the artistry of our amazing Salem State theatre students. We look forward to virtually sharing more of our students' creative work with you in the coming days.
