For Men of Color Learning Community, The Brotherhood and students who are men of color

Salem State University welcomes Sy Stokes, who has traveled the nation performing his spoken word poetry and produced a video that received more than 2-million views online entitled “The Black Bruins” in which he took his alma mater to task for racial disparities among the admission and graduation of Black male undergraduates. This lunch and informal dialogue for students who identify as Men of Color will be an opportunity to discuss topics around social justice, student activism, race and racism, masculinity, college, education, love, family, mental health and more with Sy.

Sy is currently a third-year doctoral student at the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education and Research Associate at the USC Race and Equity Center. His primary research interest is studying racism on college campuses since the 2016 Presidential Election.
