Managing Difficult Classroom Discussions

Status message

Please note that this event has already occurred.

This workshop will be offered twice: once from 10 am–12 pm and once from 1-3 pm. All attendees are invited to lunch from 12–1 pm. (Choose your time by registering online.)

Classroom discussions can be rich and rewarding, but can also go downhill at the drop of a dime. Developing discussion guidelines can make them more manageable. Whether you regularly establish discussion guidelines in your classes or tend to "wing it," in this workshop we'll explore some of the nuances of establishing guidelines and we'll work on writing or refining guidelines that work—for all students, for optimal learning, and for our own well-being. Workshop is relevant to face-to-face, hybrid and online classes.
