Kevin Borgeson: "Faces of Hate and the Online Presence of the Alt-Right"

Status message

Please note that this event has already occurred.
A discussion with Professor Borgeson on hate groups in the digital age.

Criminal justice professor Kevin Borgeson will discuss his research on the different faces of hate. He will discuss how today’s hate groups, like the alt-right, make hate a part of the social discourse that will likely impact future generations' ability to discern reliable internet sites, fake news and Holocaust denial. Borgeson will discuss how the dissemination of information in the modern age creates complex representations of hate, bigotry, anti-Semitism, and xenophobia that are not easily identifiable by the general audience.
