Please note that this event has already occurred.

If you were not able to attend this event, you may watch a recording of the student forum here.

As you may have heard, Salem State is planning to return to being a primarily on-campus institution in just a few weeks! Although I am thrilled that we will have a more “traditional” campus experience for our students in September, we are following state guidance and will continue to prioritize the health and safety of our community.

I'm holding a virtual open forum for all students and their families next week on Tuesday, August 10 at 6:30 pm and I hope you will attend. This forum will provide updates on how we are keeping our campus safe, you’ll hear about the move-in process, learn about our academic programs, and what we’re offering to keep students engaged and successful. We also want to hear from you and respond to your questions about the fall semester.

Please register to join the August 10 forum at 6:30 pm at this link.

Please remember that all Salem State students are required to be fully immunized against COVID-19, unless they apply for and receive an exemption, before returning to campus for the fall semester. If you have not done so already, please read our message about important COVID-19 health and safety protocols for the fall semester.

During the forum, you’ll hear from representatives from academic affairs, student life, residence life, the first-year experience office, counseling and health services, athletics, first-year day of service, campus life and recreation, student success programs, and the Student Navigation Center. In addition, the deans of the School of Graduate Studies and School of Continuing and Professional Studies will also be providing updates.

So that we can accommodate participation by many of our students and their families, this forum will be held in a webinar format. You will be able to view the webinar and submit questions. In order to manage such a large group of participants, unfortunately, you will not be able to speak or be seen. From the questions submitted, a team of university staff will moderate the Q&A. For those of you who don’t have Zoom already installed, please download it for free from your app store prior to this event. Zoom works equally well on desktops, tablets or mobile devices.

I hope you will join me for this conversation. Please remember to register for this event. I look forward to seeing new and returning Vikings next week—and on campus in September!
