Soumya Rajaram is an exponent of Bharatanatyam with over two decades of
performance experience. She started her training at The Kalakshetra Foundation, a
premier institute for performing arts in India and continued to learn with revered
teachers and choreographers from this institute. She was awarded the senior
scholarship for dance by Govt. of India. She has been selected as the finalist for the
Traditional Arts Fellowship by the Massachusetts Cultural Council each year since 2016.
Soumya performs regularly at dance festivals throughout the USA and in India. She is
regularly featured at The Jose Mateo Ballet theater festival, The New England Folk
Festival and at The Dance Complex. In 2022 she presented Transcendence-classical
dance & music production for Jose Mateo Ballet Theater. She was also funded by the
Andover Cultural Council and the New England Foundation for the Arts to present a full-length production that included two other classical styles from India. She is the Director of Samskrithi School of Dance, where she has been training several students for the past 15 years. Recently, Soumya taught at The Jose Mateo's Summer Intensive program and at Harvard University.
