In this presentation, we will focus on how to increase awareness of the historically marginalized minorities and what tools we have to close the achievement gap. Drawing on the Center for Urban Education’s equity-minded practices, we developed a straightforward way for faculty to implement more inclusive approaches to assessment and grading. Then, an open discussion will be held on personal practices in achieving the DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) goals.
This session is part of "Collegial Conversations," an opportunity to join faculty from several local colleges to discuss various topics essential to teaching and learning in the twenty-first century. Participating institutions include: Middlesex Community College, Northern Essex Community College, North Shore Community College, and Salem State University. Daniela Loghin of Middlesex Community College will be facilitating this virtual session via Zoom.
