This is Interdisciplinary 2021-2022 Lecture and Conversation Series

Heather Shattuck-Heidorn, assistant professor of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Southern Maine and co-founder and assistant director of the Harvard GenderSci Lab will be sharing insights from her important new research which challenges simple assertions about biological factors in COVID-related deaths.

She will explore the ways in which gendered sociocultural factors and gender-related health conditions are critical to understanding sex-associated mortality differentials in SARS-COV-2. Her findings also underscore the importance of more rigorous data collection practices for understanding the pandemic's impact on LGBTQ+ populations.
