This workshop will focus on the impact of recent changes in immigration and asylum laws, policies and practices under the administration of President Donald Trump.

Topics will include:

  • The separation of children from their families at the southern border the denial of a bond ("bail") and indefinite detention
  • ICE policies and practices; the curtailment of asylum hearings
  • Detention in Massachusetts jails and the role of immigrant support organizations
  • Best social work practices in assisting immigrant families and children
