The COVID-19 Pandemic and Healthcare Disparities

Contemporary Perspective, Historical Context

The CHGS will host a virtual presentation by two experts on past and present healthcare disparities in the United States: Dr. Bisola Ojikutu, who practices at Mass General Brigham Hospital, and Prof. Samuel K. Roberts of Columbia University. Dr. Ojikutu will analyze the effects of systemic racism on the delivery and outcomesof medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Professor Roberts will discuss the racial inequities surrounding the tuberculosis epidemic in early twentieth-century America.

This event is free and open to the public.

The event is cosponsored by Salem State's Maguire Meservey College of Health and Human Services, the departments of Healthcare Studies and Nursing, and the School of Social Work.
