In the first of a series entitled ART and COMMERCE, the Winfisky Gallery presents an exhibition of nine young artists assembled under the moniker of the GROOVE GALLERY. Vinny Comeau, an alumnus with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Salem State University, curated friends and acquaintances and pitched the exhibition to Reach Arts in Swampcott. The short-lived event was highly successful with sales and greater visibility for the artists. It was an opportunity to circumnavigate the traditional gallery system and through propinquity, ‘create their own scene’.
The ART & COMMERCE series was established to create a discussion around how artists balance their day-to-day lives and sustain a healthy creative environment for themselves.
Participating artists include Salem State alumni Dan Brenton, Vinny Comeau, and Matt Curley and current student Hannah "Red" Carroll. They are joined by Mike Boroda, Adric Giles, Courtney LeMay, and Chris Reid.
