Keep On, Keeping On: From Struggle Comes Strength: January 18-22, 2021

Every year, the Salem State community gathers to celebrate the life and works of Dr. King through awards, programming, and speakers. After a year of racial injustice, civil unrest, and an unprecedented pandemic, this year marks the 31st annual celebration and signifies a call-to-action for our community.

This year, the Candlelight Vigil and Freedom March will be presented virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, January 20 at 5:30 pm. Programming will include opening remarks, video presentations, performances, an open mic, and more.

The candlelight vigil serves as the opening of our celebration for the celebration week, and an opportunity for the community to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s commitment to social activism and the legacy that has inspired us to continue his movement.

Following the candlelight vigil, we traditionally host a Freedom March on-campus, marching together in solidarity and advocacy for the year's theme.
