Support Salem State

We could not accomplish our mission of serving students without the support of donors. There are a variety of areas to support and ways to support Salem State University. For more information, please contact a member of the Institutional Advancement department.

Areas to Support

  • University Fund

As its name suggests, The University Fund serves the widest area of any fund at Salem State. Gifts to the University Fund are able to be directed toward the area of greatest need, from financial assistance to classroom technology to library. Your gift to the University Fund will meet an essential need.

  • Academic Programs

One thing you won’t find in a Salem State classroom is a teaching assistant leading the class instead of a professor. That’s because Salem State University is first and foremost a teaching university. Faculty members foster a dynamic learning environment where every student is known, heard and inspired to excel. With a student-faculty ratio of 16-to-1, students always have access to their professors and opportunities for one-on-one engagement. We’re proud of the wide spectrum of accredited academic programs, with offerings at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Our efforts ensure that our graduates are critical thinkers from a liberal-arts framework, who begin their careers with workforce ready skills.

  • Buy a Brick

Help Pave the Way. Give the Gift that Lasts a Lifetime: Buy an Engraved Brick!

The Salem State University Alumni Association invites you to celebrate your life-long connection to Salem State by purchasing a personalized, engraved brick for Alumni Plaza, located in front of the Ellison Campus Center.

Add your name to the beautiful plaza, and leave a personal remembrance of your experience at the university. You may also choose to purchase a brick in honor of, or in memory of, a special Salem State graduate.

This project establishes a lasting tribute to alumni, parents and friends, and is a tradition for others to follow. Through the generosity of our alumni and friends, this program continues to increase the endowment of one of the universities largest scholarship funds, and has been providing our students with scholarship support since 1997.

  • Faculty

Salem State faculty members make a concerted effort to know their students—and not just by name. They genuinely care about students’ interests and goals and regularly go the extra mile to promote student success—whether by extending office hours, facilitating a directed study or helping students find strategies for balancing the demands of school and work. Strengthened by their professors’ investments, students engage in their studies more deeply, explore their interests more broadly and develop greater confidence in their abilities. To say that Salem State professors have a life-changing impact on students is not hyperbole; more than two-thirds of our alumni credit a specific faculty member with setting them up for professional success.

  • Student Experience

Education does not begin and end in the classroom. At Salem State, students learn and grow through engagement across various facets of campus life—from music and sports to student government, peer tutoring and community service. Cultivating a vibrant learning community where students have abundant opportunities to develop socially, intellectually, creatively, and personally is key to our goal of providing a transformative learning experience.

  • Scholarships

Salem State students have dreams and ambition, but an affordable education is key to making those dreams a reality. We are grateful for friends who establish important scholarship funds that provide annual support for so many deserving students. Please consider investing in the future of a student’s life, and contribute to a scholarship fund.

  • Supporting an Internship

Experience in their field can make a crucial impact on students. Through practical involvement, they gain the skills they need to enter the workforce prepared to succeed and make a difference. Many alums look back on their internships as the capstone of their Salem State experience.
