Transfer Application Process

Send us your high school transcript (if applicable)

If you have fewer than 12 college credits, a GPA of less than 2.5, or has been out of high school for three years or less, please send us your official high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores.

Admissions Standards

The following admissions standards have been developed with the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education to ensure that the university remains an institution of high academic quality.

  • 12-23 college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or
  • Up to 23 college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and meets minimum freshman applicant requirements or
  • 24 or more college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.0

The requirements listed above are the minimum admissions standards required for direct entrance to the university. Salem State has set suggested higher standards for admission in some majors. Admissions standards and requirements are reviewed continuously and we reserve the right to change standards.

Program-Specific Requirements

Occupational Therapy (Evening Only)

Applicants must submit a copy of the Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license, official transcript of the COTA program completed, official transcripts of all other colleges attended.

Fire Science (Evening Only)

Applicants must submit an official transcript of a completed Fire Science Associate degree and all other official college transcripts.
