The demand for computer science professionals is growing. According to a 2014 Congressional Research Service report regarding the US science and engineering workforce, there were 6.2 million scientists and engineers employed in the US in 2012, 56% of which fell in computer occupations. The projected science and engineering growth rate from 2012 to 2022 is 1.3%, with 1.2 million computer scientists needed. Common job titles for computer science professionals include software application developer, computer systems analyst, computer systems engineer, computer programmer, software systems developer, and software quality assurance tester.
