Application Requirements

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university in a non-nursing program, which mus be completed by Summer Session I of the year in which you are enrolling. (GPA 3.5)

  1. Applicants who are graduates from a non-U.S. college or university are eligible to apply if the following two conditions are met:

    1. A complete, official transcript documenting the award of a bachelor’s degree. All transcripts from institutions outside of the United States must have an approved agency's evaluation of courses, grades, academic degrees, and grade point averages. Four approved agencies include the Center for Educational DocumentationWorld Education Services, Inc.North American Educational Group, or Educational Credential Evaluators
    2. If your bachelor’s degree is from a non-U.S. college or university must also complete the MASS Transfer Block at a Massachusetts Community College with the official stamped transcript on or before the start of Summer Session I  (May 1) of the year in which you are enrolling.   2. Applicants must have all prerequisites completed by the beginning of Summer Session I. However, an applicant may be enrolled in up to two prerequisite courses at the time of the application deadline. Completed transcripts must be submitted prior to the start on the program in May.
  3. Required prerequisites courses include Anatomy and Physiology I and II (with labs), Microbiology (with lab), Chemistry (with lab), Statistics, and Developmental Psychology (childhood through adulthood). Students must have grades of B- or better in prerequisites.
  4. All science prerequisite courses completed within the last seven years. Most online science courses, including Biology, do not transfer. Please contact admissions with questions.

120 credits are needed to complete the Accelerated Second Degree BSN program.

Prerequisite coursework 

22-25 credits 

Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, Chemistry, Statistics, and Developmental Psychology (childhood through adulthood). 

Prior Bachelor's Degree

42-45 credits

Most prior bachelor degree credits will transfer. There is no restriction on the subject matter of prior degree. All transfer credits must meet the minimum requirements of Salem State University.
