ENGAGE Curriculum

About our Program

Our curriculum has been strategically aligned to the Global Scale of English (GSE), the worlds' first truly global English language standard.

From day one, we will help you design your personal pathway to English proficiency for university study and career advancement. We will measure your language proficiency through our placement test and oral interview to provide you with a detailed skill profile. Then, we will help you select classes that are designed to meet your needs and goals. Throughout the semester we will track your progress and advise you how to reach the next step of your English acquisition journey.

Key Program Features

  • Receive an overall score from 10 - 90 on the Global Scale of English, as well as a Common European Framework (CEFR) score to get insight into your level.

  • Receive a detailed skills profile that highlights individual language strengths and weaknesses.

  • Study through five levels of language instruction to help reach desired proficiency targets.

  • Access free academic support and tutoring.

  • Engage in guest lectures, workshops, and trips into Boston and surrounding areas.

  • Participate in the International Peer Mentor Program to practice English with other SSU undergraduate students.
