The budget office at Salem State University contributes to the mission of the university and that of the financial services department by assisting in the development of the university's budget as both a planning tool and as a control mechanism, by supporting all budget users as they develop an understanding of the power of the budget as a planning tool, by providing timely reports and guidance in the interpretation of those reports, and by making long-term projections of budgetary needs and opportunities. Budget also assists with budgetary adjustments and transfers, with guidance on managerial accounting and with input on changes in the chart of accounts to facilitate better management.

Strategic Plan Grants Program
University community may apply for a grant and collaboration across departments is encouraged. Further information such as eligibility, evaluation criteria, and timeline are available here. An excel file is available on the same web page for your use in calculating the financial resources that your project will require. Both a written narrative and the budget sheet should be submitted to the committee electronically, by the deadline date of March 25, 2015 to SPGA@salemstate.edu. We encourage all applicants to discuss their proposal and/or share a copy of the proposal with their area vice president, to ensure compatibility and alignment with divisional plans. Notification of awards will be made by May 1 and the funding will be available after July 1. Any questions should be directed to the Budget Committee, in care of Rich Kelley.
