The Salem State University Police Department works to manage multiple shuttle services for students, faculty, and guests of Salem State University.
Cavalier Coach Shuttle Service
Through Salem State University and Cavalier Coach Trailways, the university is proud to offer a campus-wide shuttle service to all faculty, students, and guests of Salem State University.
This shuttle service runs one to four full-sized buses from 7 am to 7 pm and only services on-campus stops.
On campus route shuttle stops:
Central Campus, Horace Mann School, Meier Hall, Peabody Hall, O’Keefe Center-Canal Street, Broadway behind McDonalds at parking lots, Bates Complex, and Harrington Building.
Salem State Student Shuttle Depot ServiceThrough University Police as well as the Student Government Association, Salem State University is proud to offer student shuttle services to the students and faculty of Salem State University.
The Depot Shuttle Service runs on a timetable servicing the Central Campus bus stop as well as the Salem Commuter Rail Depot.

Student Run Shuttle (Passenger Vans)
Through University Police as well as the Student Government Association, Salem State University is proud to offer Student Shuttle services to the students and faculty of Salem State University.
The shuttle service runs on-demand and services predetermined stops around the Salem State community. To request a shuttle, call the shuttle desk at 978.542.7777 (Ext. 7777) or at 978.542.2623 (Ext. 2623).
To better serve the Salem State community, dispatchers will ask for your name, contact phone number, location, and desired destination. If you require special accommodations, please notify the dispatcher. However, due to call load and under typical circumstances, dispatchers do not call those who request the service when the shuttles have arrived at their pick-up point.
Monday through Wednesday, Near-Campus Route Only: 7 pm–1 am

Friday through Saturday, Off-Campus Route Only: 7 pm-1 am

Salem State University Police Department Escort Service
The Salem State University police department provides a personal safety escort service which is available to all members of the Salem State community when standard shuttle services are not running.
To better serve the Salem State community, dispatchers will ask for your name, contact phone number, location, and desired destination. If you require special accommodations, please notify the dispatcher.
Occasionally, as this service is staffed by the University Police department, situations may arise where the university police are unable to respond immediately to your request. The dispatcher will advise at the time of your call of any expected delays. If your escort has not arrived after a reasonable time, please all again.
The Salem State University police department is committed to the goals of providing a safe, efficient and courteous escort service. Therefore, certain restrictions must be placed on this service.
The escort service is for on-campus stops only. The escort service is not designed to:
- Provide transportation to/from places of employment, restaurants, taverns, airports, mass-transit, etc.
- Provide transportation for large groups or persons intoxicated or otherwise exhibiting obnoxious behavior.
If the Salem State University Police are unable to provide an escort for any reason, a telephone will be made available to you to arrange for alternative transportation, such as a taxi.
