Geographical Society

Earth

The Geographical Society is open to all students of Salem State University. The purpose of the Geographical Society is to bring the people of the world together in an effort to share and learn from each other the different beliefs, views and cultures of the world. We do this through exploration of the many cultural and regional aspects within our reach. We welcome you to join us!

About Us

The Geographical Society is a club that concerns the involvement of geography in a broad variety of events both informative and entertaining. Events range from physical activities such as rock climbing, to educational events like the NESTVAL conference. The society aims to connect with nearby professionals and employers to inform members of the many opportunities available to geographers. Past career oriented events have included trips to the ESRI offices in Danvers, Mass., and trips to a local meteorology station. The Geographical Society plans, attends and sponsors events. Our mission is to plan these activities with respect to the five themes of modern geography. Some of the plans for upcoming events include Omni Theater trips, winter weekend activities, geography luncheons, and educating children in geography. The Geographical Society typically meets every other Monday at eleven (community time) on the third floor of Meier Hall. We work to accommodate the schedules of all involved.

Who's involved?

The Geographical Society is not limited to just geography majors. We are open to all Salem State University students and commonly see involvement from education and geology majors. The Geographical Society encourages all majors to help provide different perspectives and viewpoints. We believe that there is some geography in every discipline.

Why should you join?

All Salem State University students are welcomed and encouraged to join. We value the insight and perspective of students from every educational and cultural background.
