Endicott, Gordon, and Salem State are pleased to announce the installation of the North Shore chapter of the prestigious Sigma Xi honor society. The result of a momentous collaboration between Endicott, Gordon College, and Salem State College, this new chapter reflects the North Shore region’s growing involvement in advanced scientific discoveries. Dr. Jerome Baker, the Executive Director of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, will preside over the installation ceremony on November 5 at 7:30 pm, and Dr. Adrien Finzi, Associate Professor of Biology at Boston University, will deliver a keynote address on “The Scientific Basis for Human Driven Global Climate Change”. The public is invited, and is welcome to attend this event, which is on November 5 at 7:30 pm at Endicott College in the chapel. The public is invited and welcome to attend.

The North Shore chapter of Sigma Xi will represent all three member institutions and joins a list of Northeast chapters that includes those at Harvard, Yale, MIT, Dartmouth, Tufts, Northeastern University, Boston University, Smith College and Williams College. Faculty members at Endicott, Gordon, and Salem State have already begun planning for a biannual lecture series, a joint scientific conference in February, and an annual induction ceremony for outstanding seniors and graduate students. Students in the sciences will be among those presenting at the February conference, and those who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and a capacity for developing their own research projects will be inducted as associate members of Sigma Xi in the spring.

Sigma Xi is an international research society supporting outstanding endeavors in all areas of science and engineering. With more than 60,000 members in over 100 countries, Sigma Xi sponsors projects and collaborations around the world through grant awards, publications, and program development.
