The Joint Admissions Program guarantees you admission
to SSC when you complete an Associate's Degree at a Massachusetts community
college in a designated discipline with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. See if you qualify for the Tuition Advantage Program (TAP)
Massachusetts Community
College TransfersMany Massachusetts community colleges offer associate's degrees covered by the Massachusetts Transfer Compact. If you complete a designated associate's degree, it will be honored in transfer as a unit and construed as completion of at least 60 hours of work toward a bachelor's degree, and completion of at least 35 hours toward fulfillment of the general education requirements for the baccalaureate. This agreement only pertains to designated transfer programs at Massachusetts community colleges and is not in force for those programs that are considered terminal in nature. Students changing programs markedly may expect that it will require more than four
semesters to complete the sequences for a new major.
NOTE: You are urged to contact your transfer counselor at your community college before the second semester to ensure courses taken
meet Compact requirements.
Massachusetts State College & University Transfers
If you have completed the general education requirements at one Massachusetts state college, you shall not be obliged to meet additional or different general education requirements of the receiving college. The completion of a Bachelor's Degree or a letter from the previous state college stating that the general education requirements are complete is required.
Bachelor’s Degree Students
If you have completed a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States, you shall not be obliged to meet the Salem State College general education requirements (core and distribution) unless specified by the major department. SSC will evaluate your college transcripts for both accreditation and the completion of your bachelor’s degree.
Articulation Agreements
SSC has several articulation agreements with Massachusetts two-year colleges to help students move from an Associate's Degree
to a Bachelor's Degree with little or no loss of college credit. These agreements are based on specific academic disciplines. Please contact the transfer counselor at your college for more info.
