                               I.      Minutes

President Dalton announced that Secretary Spano would have to go

through the minutes from April 12 and check them since they were

not submitted by her.

                            II.      PRESIDENT’S REPORT

 · President Dalton introduced Evelyn Wilson and Stephen

Sorkin who came to discuss the issue of exclusive pouring rights

for either Coca-Cola or Pepsi.  They are preparing for an RFB,

which is a request for bid from Pepsi or Coca-Cola to have

exclusive pouring rights all throughout SSC.  This decision will

enrich the school over 5-10 years with substantial amount of

money.  To do this they had to look into total consumption on

campus and whether or not there are enough vending machines

on campus.  They did an inventory and found that there were 60-

65 machines on campus, which means that 10 or 20 more can be

added.  They had asked for some input on where the new

machines should be located and what should be in them.  This

RFB is being sent out by May 1st, the decision will be in June and

the announcement will be made in July.  Right now Pepsi has

20% of the total consumption and Coca-Cola has 80% of the total

consumption on campus, which makes it the dominant source of

beverages because of an inside deal.  The college does not benefit

from this proportion.  By choosing one or the other the school

will receive between $700,000 and $900,000 in revenue.  Because

of the ferocious times the college has been going through this

decision will be an excellent source of revenue for SSC.  The deal

will go to the highest bidder and Evelyn and Stephen just want

us all to be aware and to let them know of any issues they may

have.  There are no advertising rights included in the deal just

pouring rights.  Treasurer Garvey suggested making the prices

on the soda lower instead of making commission and Stephen

Sorkin said that he would bring it up in their internal

discussions.  There was some concern with the current machines

being hidden inside buildings and some of the machines being

off often.  This new exclusivity deal will include the company re-

equipping the campus so the service will be better.  Dr. Brossoit

mentioned that this decision is for the good of all.  It will have

long term benefits like better service and more commission.

Also, some students requested recycling since there will be more

cans and bottles and that the machines accept student ID cards.

· President Dalton thanked our guests and announced that due to

the referendum process no waivable fee will appear on the

tuition bill for anyone this year.

                         III.      VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

· Vice President Batastini announced State House day on April 28th and that there will be a training session Monday April 26 from 11-11:30 in Dr. Brossoit’s office.  There will also be some training on the ride to the event.  Dr. Brossoit informed us that the reason for going to the state house is to speak with the Senators before their budget goes through because Governor Romney included a $70 million increase in his budget and the House budget identified a cut of Higher Education.  We want to go advocate to the Senators so that when it is time for their budget to be passed they recommend that the House budget is bad.

· Vice President Batastini also announced that Monday, May 3 at

11 is the Outgoing Leadership Reception, which is a mandatory

event for groups and clubs in Vet’s Hall.

· On Thursday, April 29 there will be a mandatory group and

club meeting at 4:00 in Vet’s Hall where she will be introducing
