No Changes in the minutes

                            II.      PRESIDENT’S REPORT

 · Acting President Batastini explained that President Dalton

could not be at this meeting because her sister is having a baby

 girl.

· Acting President Batastini reminded everyone that senate training begins next week (11/4).  The seniors will be presenting time management.

                         · Acting President Batastini told all of the chairs that they must

meet with President Dalton by the end of this week.  It is

imperative they they schedule their appointments with the

President as soon as possible.

· Acting President Batastini introduced acting Chief Anglin from

the Campus police who came to speak about parking issues.  He

explained that he understands that parking is a huge issue, but it

is already getting better.  The only word he used to describe

it was a “carnival”.  At the beginning of next semester the

elevators will be complete which will open up more spaces at

Peabody and the trailers at Central Campus will also be

moved.  Public safety, faculty, and students have joined together

to form a parking committee.  He also said that there will be no

more events that require vendors parking during peak

hours.  This will also make more spots available.  He explained

that Halloween was going to be crazy around here.  The streets of

downtown are blocked so he gave the heads up to not drive

through downtown.  Lots of campus police will be around on

Thursday and on Friday there will be tons.  Chief Anglin

informed the group that they have only towed 1/3 of the amount

of cars they normally do because they understand parking is a

major issue especially with the construction.  Senator

Williamson told him that she heard that freshman got their

hands on a bunch of stickers and are distributing them to other

Freshman.  Chief Anglin guaranteed her that that is not true.

Sergeant Antonio only gives stickers if they are legitimately

needed.  Dr. Brossoit informed the group that his committee is

looking into counting the parking spaces to get a sense of where

there are issues according to class schedules.  A short-term

solution might be to rent out neighboring parking lots.  A long-

term solution would be to get a parking garage.  Chief Anglin

said that he knows Tuesdays and Thursdays are the busiest days

and that is when the most parking problems occur.  Chair Ryer

asked the Chief when they started ticketing commuter cars and

he informed her that they ticket commuters after 11:00PM.  Chief

Anglin then closed by saying “ Stick with us, we are almost

there”.

       · After Chief Anglin left the group had a little discussion of our

own.  Dr. Brossoit told everyone to take the information given

today and give it out to other students who express concerns with

parking.  He also said that every college pretty much has a

problem with parking.  Chair Boucher asked about the price we

pay for parking.  After learning that it was only $10, she

expressed her concern.  Other schools charge a lot more.  She

feels that the process of getting a sticker should be more difficult

and maybe that will prevent a lot of students from getting their

         cars on campus.

                       · Acting President Batastini let everyone know that Haunted

Happenings was fantastic!  There was left over candy so everyone

received a personalized candy bag.  She told everyone that she

received lots of positive feedback and she even shared an e-mail

she received which raved about the event.

                      · Acting President Batastini announced that the groups and clubs

meeting scheduled for November 6 might be changed to

November 20 because Congressman Tierney may be coming to

Speak. Also on November 20 is Attitude for Gratitude.  If the

meeting is going to be changed it will be posted by the end of the

                      week.

                     · Acting President Batastini reminded everyone about the can

drive that is occurring for Attitude for Gratitude on November 20th.

They are currently trying to figure out a great prize for the group or

club that has the most donations.  Senator Jimenez asked if there

was a set goal and Acting President Batastini told him that it was

just a  contest.  She also clarified that it didn’t just have to be

limited to cans, it could be any non-perishable item.

                         III.      VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

No Report

                         IV.      TREASURER'S REPORT

keeping busy doing treasurer stuff in the office.

                            V.      ASST. TREASURER’S REPORT

· Assistant Treasurer Mazza brought up the issue of parking again and asked Senator Runyan, who is also the President of the Student Commuter Association, if they were doing anything to encourage carpooling. Senator Runyan replied that they were working on a ride share board last year, but the semester ended and it did not get finished.

                         VI.      SECRETARY’S REPORT

· Secretary Spano handed out the contact sheets with all Student Government member’s names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses.

· Secretary Spano once again asked all the chairs for a list of the members of their committees because she has only received one.

· Secretary Spano mentioned that some people have not been doing any office hours and that she was disappointed that the hours were not being used to meet the student’s needs.  She mentioned an idea about a notebook that she would place in the office where you can sign up and write what it was that you did during your office hour.  She said that she would review it and decide whether or not it was accepted as an office hour.  She also said that attending your own group or club’s events was not considered an office hour because you have to be there anyways.

                      VII.      SENATE REPORTS

   · SENIOR SENATE

      · Senator Alexis and Senator Ryan explained about senior

audits. Senior audits are forms that tell you what you need to

graduate.  It is very useful and your advisor is supposed to

tell you about it, but they need to be more involved.  All you

do to get this is go to Academic Advising and fill out a form

and it will be mailed to you.  Our lovely senior senators told

the group to get on this because it is necessary and it takes

        about 3 weeks to get.

       · Senator Alexis and Senator Ryan also brought up Senior

Celebration, which is on November 3 in Vet’s Hall from 11-

12:15.  It is put on by career services and it is a great chance to

sign up with career services, talk about senior activities, learn

about grad school, and look into class rings.

    · Asked for Jen Clark’s number to get some help for their

     presentation next week.

    · No Report

College.  One student reported that he had no issues so far.

Another said that he wanted to chop off his ear trying to find

a parking spot, this was a commuter.  Also some reported

that  they were upset about Lacrosse being cut, some were

even thinking about leaving this school because of it.

· Chair King also brought up that she had the terms for the glossary and is working on those.  Also she tore apart the impeachment process so instead of 3 months we are looking at more like 4 weeks.

· The rules committee will meet next Tuesday, November 4 at 3:30 (the meetings are usually every other week at 7:00 but because of Goldie Hawn they made an exception.)
