As part of the Higher Education Amendment, Salem State College must provide students with the opportunity to register to vote.  Accordingly, the Secretary of State's office for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has created a website on which you can request a voter registration form.  Please note that you may choose between a Massachusetts form and a Federal form.  The Massachusetts form can only be used to register to vote in Massachusetts, while the Federal Form may be used to register in most other states.

Please note, you cannot register to vote via the Internet, but you can request the form online.

Step by step, here's what you need to do:
  1. Follow this link to the Online Voter Registration Form Request Webpage
  2. The form will be mailed to you, so specify and address where you regularly get your mail
  3. Fill the form out and return it to your city or town hall.  Addresses for town and city halls throughout the Commonwealth are also listed on the Commonwealth's website.  Click here if you would like to go to that page directly.
  4. After processing your form, the local town clerk will provide you with acknowledgment of your registration.  If you do not hear from your town clerk within a reasonable time, please contact them directly for more information
Remember -- you will not be registered unless you return the completed voter registration form to your local city or town hall!
