Student Life
Common Questions
Q: If I've paid my housing deposit to live on campus, what happens next?
A: Once you've paid your deposit, residence life will mail you a packet of materials including your housing license. This must be filled out and returned before we can assign you a space on campus. In order to assure your space, we encourage you to return your license as quickly as possible by the deadline in the letter.
Q: If I’m guaranteed a space on campus next year, do I still have to pay a housing deposit?
A: Yes. The three-year housing guarantee only applies if students pay their deposits on time, and follow the process.
Q: How do I pay the deposit?
A: You may pay your deposit online through TouchNet by following the links in Navigator. You may also pay your deposit in-person at the bursar’s office or mail a check to the bursar's office. If you send a check, make sure you write your student ID number on it.
Q: When is the housing deposit due if I want to live on campus in Fall 2012?
A: Your housing deposit may be paid at any point in time, assuming that there is still space available on campus. Please make sure that when you go onto TouchNet you select FALL 2012 and not spring 2012.
Q: If I have an outstanding balance, may I still pay the housing deposit?
A: Yes. Your previous bills must be paid in full before a housing deposit for next semester will be accepted.
Q: If I received housing through the waiting list, may I still pay a deposit to live on campus next year?
A: Yes.
Q: I don’t currently live on campus. May I pay the deposit to live on campus for the fall 2012 semester, and participate in room selection?
A: Students who are not currently living on-campus are still welcome to pay the housing deposit by the published deadline(s), however current commuters will only be given an invitation to room selection if space is available. If space is not available at room selection, those commuters who paid the housing deposit will be added to housing as space is available. Residence life will offer spaces to students in late-summer and throughout the fall 2012 semester if/when spaces on-campus become available.
Q: What happens if I miss the deposit deadline?
A: If you do not pay the deposit by March 12, 2012, you will not be able to participate in room selection. If you pay the deposit after March 12, 2012, you will receive housing as it becomes available. If there are any extra spaces after room selection, you will be notified. If there are not any extra spaces after Room Selection, your name will remain on a waitlist until space becomes available. Residence life will utilize the waitlist to offer spaces to students in late-summer and throughout the fall 2012 semester if /when spaces on-campus become available.
Q: How do I find out who my roommate/apartment-mates are?
A: In order for residence life to share who you are living with, the students must have indicated their permission to allow residence life to share their name and information with you. Roommate/apartment-mate information will be included in your assignment letter (sent during the first two weeks of August) if permission was granted to share.
Q: How do I see what my room will look like?
A: Residence life is not able show students their particular room or apartment. Pictures of selected rooms are posted on the residence life Facebook page. Students may also schedule a tour with Admissions to see what standard rooms look like.
