Student Life
Historical Association
The SSHA is a student run organization. There is a board that run meetings, do paperwork, organize events, and generally make cool looking fliers for our events. They also offer studying and tutoring sessions for those of you who need help or assistance in any class that you end up taking. This does not just apply to History classes, the SSHA is family. We keep ours intact.
In November we are going to Plymouth Ma. The SSHA will be visiting Plymouth Plantation, The Mayflower II, Burial Hill, Coles Hill and the Pilgrim Hall (Museum). Costs are kept down for all events because the SSHA understands the need to conserve money. We are all poor college students, we dislike spending money.
For the Spring there are two crazy events that the SSHA is taking on. First in the spring, probably May, the SSHA will be going down to New York City to spend the day at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. This trip will cost a maximum of $30 per student, meaning you get a whole day in NYC for $30 and also are able to visit some of the United States’ most historic landmarks.
Our last official event of the year is a weekend in Virginia. The SSHA shall descend past the Mason-Dixon line to visit Williamsburg VA, Six Flags and Gettysburg VA. This trip will cost a minimum of $150 but no more than $200. We’ll be going sometime in the beginning of June. If you’d like to join us please email Rachel, the SSHA loves freshmen!
The last “unofficial” event that the SSHA is taking part in is the World Historical Association’s Annual Conference which is being hosted by the Salem State History Department. The SSHA is helping out. The SSHA and the Salem State History Department are working together to create a wonderful event displaying the beauty and history of Salem MA.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns about attending Salem State please feel free to email Rachel at remelock86@yahoo.com.
