Workshop on Technology Integration Using Microsoft Office

This workshop is designed for grades k-12 teacher who would like to learn how integrate Microsoft Publisher, Word and PowerPoint into your daily curriculum. Participants will review lessons units on the web that integrate these programs and use them as examples for their own unit of study.

Day 1

Participants will come to the course prepared with materials from a previous unit that has been successfully taught in teacher's discipline. Participants will be introduced to Internet resources to help supplement units such as on-line rubrics, and interim assessment tools. Curriculum mapping to the state frameworks will be discussed as participants review the state frameworks that apply to the participant's unit. PowerPoint will be introduced and participants will map the multi-media presentation by gathering other resources to create the slide show.

Day 2

Participants will learn features of  PowerPoint and create the slide show. A ten-slide presentation will be created and a rubric will also be used to measure the student's result of the unit after integrating the technology to supplement the unit versus having not used the technology to enhance the teaching unit. The rubric should include a way to write recommendations from the teacher or student perspective to perfect the lesson.

Day 3

Microsoft Publisher will be introduced and students will create a brochure to meet other objectives within the unit and/or the lesson can be designed for the students to create a two-sided brochure while aligning the lesson to the frameworks and mapping the unit within the curriculum. Interim assessments will be discussed and participants will be introduced to websites for assessments and Microsoft Office training tutorials.
