Workshop #1:                 TI-Nspire – New Handheld Technology and Software from TI                Nancy Schick and Steve Oullette

Cost: $20 Members                $40 Non-Members (SPECIAL RATE)

Description: This workshop will be divided into two components. The first part of the program will be a presentation by Nancy Nichols, the TI E.T.C. for our region. She will discuss the new TI-Nspire system and how TI plans to introduce it into the market over the next year. Nancy’s presentation will be followed by Steve Oullette who is a regional trainer for TI and who has received special training in the use of the new TI-Nspire. Steve is also a frequent writer of TI Activities for the Navigator and the TV Series “Numbers.” Steve’s component “is intended to introduce participants to the TI-Nspire handheld device. Participants will learn how to work with each of Nspire’s four applications – Calculator, Graphs & Geometry, Lists & Spreadsheets, and Notes – with a focus on recognizing how the document structure of TI-Nspire can link variables and create valuable connections via multiple representations. Emphasis will also be placed on finding ways to use TI-Nspire to support and enhance the curriculum.”

Upon completion of the program, participants will receive information from Nancy that will allow them to purchase a package that included the TI-Nspire handheld system and the software program for an approximate 40% discount.

This is a must program for department heads as they prepare for the impact of this technology into the mathematics market.
