Fee: Free for Member Districts $25 for non-Member Districts

Enrollment Restrictions: This program is limited to 24 participants (No more than two teachers per district.)

Description:

Experience attention grabbing chemistry demos for all grade levels while tuning up your science lab safety skills! This is a hands-on workshop using OSHA compliant chemical storage, reading chemical labels, and understanding MSDS sheets. There will be an overview of the following Hazardous Communication Act (HazCom) topics:

• Reading & interpreting chemical container labels
• Laboratory risk assessment
• Reading & interpreting material safety data sheets (MSDS)
• Physical & health effects of exposure to hazardous chemicals
• Proper use of personal protective equipment & safety equipment
• First aid treatment for exposure to hazardous chemicals
• Safety instruction on handling cleanup and disposal procedures for hazardous chemicals
