The Job Location & Development (JLD) Program expands off-campus job
opportunities for currently enrolled SSC students regardless of financial
need. It encourages, but doesn’t limit, you to participate in community
service, so jobs may be with profit or nonprofit employers. JLD gives
you the opportunity to support yourself, help with educational expenses,
and gain valuable experience in today's workplace. You can enhance your
major and your resume by working in a related discipline.
If you accept a JLD community service job, you’ll improve the quality
of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals,
via jobs in health care, childcare, literacy training, education (including
tutoring), housing and neighborhood improvement, rural development, and
community disabilities. The majority of off-campus jobs available to students
through the JLD Program are in those fields. However, opportunities in
the following areas are also available:
- Accounting/Banking
- Administrative Work
- Arts Media & Entertainment
- Childcare
- Crime Prevention/Law
- Customer Service
- Education
- Health & Human Services
- Hotel/Restaurant
- Information Technology

- Manual Labor
- Office Support
