Minimum Technical Standards

A valid SSC email address is mandatory. This can be forwarded to your personal email address, but it must be set up.

Minimum PC Specifications

• Pentium M, Centrino or AMD processor (1.50ghz)
• 30 GB HD
• 512MB RAM
• CD-RW/Floppy Drive or memory stick, and/or DVD Combo drive
• Connection of at least 56K, Cable, DSL or wireless connection preferred
• Minimum operating system of Windows XP
• Antivirus software
• Microsoft Office Profession is recommended

Individual courses may require specific software or hardware

• 512MB RAM
• Connection of at least 56K, Cable, DSL or wireless connection preferred
• Minimum operating system of 10.1
• Antivirus software
• OS X is recommended

Additional Requirements

• Web browser
• View a list of supported browsers or run a browser check
• Pop ups are used within WebCT. Your pop-up blocker must be turned off when you are in your course.
• Some courses may require you to download RealPlayer (free version), Flash Player, QuickTime Player, or PowerPoint Viewer.
• You should not use a beta or preview versions or a different web browser software. The web browser must allow session cookies from the domain salemstate.edu.
• Word processing software that can save files in Microsoft® Word 6.0 or Rich Text Format (RTF).
• Course specific software or hardware may be required. Check with your instructor for specifications.
• You will find a printer helpful.
