The
Department of Public Safety is comprised of Police
Operations, Transportation, Parking and Traffic Management.
The
Department of Public Safety was created as a result
of authority legislated to the College by the General
Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This
authority includes the responsibility to protect the
lives and property in and around Salem State College.
The
College is a large and complex environment.
Ensuring the safety of community members requires a
well trained dedicated staff that is sensitive to the
diverse needs of all. When addressing the
issues that challenge a college community, I encourage
a comprehensive approach. The department provides
services that actively pursue the involvement of student
and staff members.
Please
be assured that campus safety is the ultimate goal of
all the department's efforts. We aspire to provide
resources to prevent crime, to proactively develop community
partnerships and to provide services to the College
that promote that ultimate goal of campus safety. The
Department welcomes your participation and encourages
you to become involved in the function of a secure campus.
