Police Authority Sworn Members of the Department hold commissions as police officers under Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 22C, section 63 and other statutes. Members of the Department are sworn in as special police officer in the City of Salem Training
Our officers attend the MCJTC municipal police officer training academy
for a period of twenty six weeks. Beyond
basic training, all officers undergo in-service training on an annual
basis. All have been trained in emergency medical procedures,
first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The department
currently has four (4) officers certified as EMT's. Officers
have full Chapter 90 (Motor Vehicle Law) powers and strictly enforce
these laws on campus. Operations The Department runs 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Patrol of all campuses including Cat Cove. The Department is charged with the responsibility of enforcing all college rules and regulations as well as the local, state and federal laws, statutes, and ordinances.
