R.A.D. Profile
The national standard in self defense Instructor
Certification, R.A.D. is internationally recognized
for programming quality and organizational
commitment to excellence. R.A.D. Systems balances
the needs of women to acquire self defense
education in a relatively short period of time,
with the life long commitment required for
physical skill mastery. How? By providing short
term training opportunities in a progressive
building block format, and combining each with
R.A.D.'s trademark Lifetime Return and Practice
Policy! Only a unified, extensive network can
provide this service, honored nationwide and
throughout Canada. While other programs and/or
instructors struggle to keep pace, R.A.D. Instructors
share life saving information with confidence,
knowing that their lessons will be continuously
reinforced for a lifetime!
Why R.A.D.?
- R.A.D.
is the largest network of its kind with over
7000 Instructors receiving training
in our systems to date. These Instructors teach at various
colleges, universities, and municipal
law enforcement agencies as well as various
other community
organizations internationally. R.A.D. has trained more than
300,000 women since the program began
in 1989.
- R.A.D. is the only existing program with a free
lifetime return
and practice policy, honored throughout both the US and Canada.
- R.A.D. has developed specialized simulation techniques
and equipment for use by certified
R.A.D. instructors.
- R.A.D. is the only self defense program ever
endorsed
by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).

The Rape Aggression Defense System is
a program of realistic, self-defense
tactics and techniques.
The RAD System is comprehensive course
for women that begins with awareness,
prevention, risk
reduction, and avoidance, while progressing
on to the basics of hands-on defense
training. RAD
is not a Martial Arts program. The courses
that we offer are taught by certified
RAD Instructors
and provide you with a workbook/reference
manual. This manual outlines the entire
Physical Defense
Program for reference and continuous
personal growth. The RAD System of Physical
Defense is
currently being taught at many Colleges
and Universities throughout the country.
The growth, wide spread
acceptance of this system is primarily
due to the ease, simplicity, and effectiveness
of our
tactics, solid research, legal defensibility,
and unique teaching methodology. The
Rape Aggression Defense System is dedicated
to teaching women
defensive concepts and techniques against
various types of assaults, by utilizing
easy, effective,
and proven self-defense/martial arts
tactics. Our system of realistic defense
will provide
a woman with the knowledge to make an
educated decision about resistance.
We
operate on
the premise
that a spontaneous
violent
attack
will stimulate a natural
desire to
resist, on
the
part of the victim.
We
educate women
about "The Flight or Flight Syndrome",
while showing
them
that
enhancing their option
of
physical defense
is not
only
prudent, but
necessity
if natural resistance
is
to be effective.
Safety and survival in today's world
requires a definite course of action.
We provide effective
options by teaching women to take an
active role in their own self-defense
and psychological well
being.

Be Aware .....
One
out of every four college women polled was sexually
assaulted during their four years at college.
Between
1973
and
1987,
over
2.3
million
women
reported sexual assaults in the United States.
71% of these victims avoided being raped by
taking self-defense classes
Develop
Your
Options...
In
1988;
rape
victims
took
self-defense
classes
in 86.7% of the cases. "Rape victims
were more likely to defend themselves than
assault
or robbery victims." The RAD objective
is to develop and enhance the options of
self-defense so that they become viable considerations
to
the women who is attacked.
Don't Be Victimized By Fear
Fact
is,
the
most
often
used
strategy
for
avoider's
(of rape) appears to have been a combination
of screaming and use of physical resistance.
