History

• The SSC Child Care Center was established in 1970 making it one of the first child care programs in the State College system.
• In 1996, the name was changed to the SSC Preschool Program.
• In May 1997, Beverly Gerson, the Coordinator, and Maureen Conrad Delpero, the Supervising Head Teacher, traveled to Reggio Emilia, Italy as part of an organized international study tour.

The purpose of the visit was to observe first hand the internationally acclaimed Preschools of this area where the Reggio Approach has been studied and applied for several years. (The Reggio Approach is part of our Program's Philosophy.)
