July & August 2006 June was a busy month. This year was my second year as a presenter on stage for the nursing recognition ceremony for Salem States College 2006 graduating class. I felt much better this year because I knew where my graduation robe and cords were and I also knew the routine. I am so proud to be a part of the future of nursing in this way. June also brought us together for our final Sigma meeting before summer break. Historically this meeting has a two-fold goal. The first goal is developing next years calendar. In the fall ETA TAU hosts an educational program and the spring program focuses on cultural nursing. The new calendar is posted on the web for your convenience. Again this past year we spent time discussing where should ETA TAU focus its energy and debating what would be most beneficial to all. It is no surprise then that we decided to keep our focus on mentoring and development of nurses. We have also challenged ourselves for something new and very exciting. For this coming 2006-2007 academic year we have committed to submit for a chapter key award. This submission requires gathering documentation and supporting evidence highlighting all the good work ETA TAU members are involved in. The second goal of the annual meeting is to make changes to chapter leadership and formalize those changes. I am happy to announce our very own Director of Nursing Resource Center : Linda Frontiero RN, MSN has accepted the position of Treasurer of ETA TAU. Linda has been actively involved in ETA TAU for several years now through maintenance of our web site. It is with great pleasure that we welcome her officially to our leadership team. Involvement in Eta Tau has afforded me wonderful opportunities to develop my leadership skills. I will continue to reach out you to participate in the programs and encourage you to become involved. Chapter activities can be very rewarding as we consider our own future in nursing. I also encourage you to consider mentoring our new RNs. Some of you bring years of experience and support and have much to offer a new nurse, some of you will seek mentors and guidance in navigating the new world of nursing you find yourself immersed in. Each of you has something good to offer, reach out... we're here. I Believe in You. Patti-Ann Collins Patti.Collins@bmc.orgPresident Eta Tau Chapter |
