As the Bridge goes to print, three nursing students representing the Salem State College Student Nurse Association and I, the faculty advisor are at the 48th Annual National Student Nurse Association Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. Convention is always an exciting time and the students have worked very hard making all the arrangements and doing some fundraising to help defray the costs.

 

The theme of the convention this year is, "Reaching New Heights ­ Achieving Success". There are many educational workshops, networking opportunities and opportunities to participate in the House of Delegates. Everyone will be working very hard as there are so many things to take part in. We'll also make some time to do some fun things as well! The students who will be attending are: Bonnie Cheever, Lindsay Moore and Kellie Wood.

The Massachusetts SNA Spring Convention was held on April 29th at Regis College in Weston Massachusetts. The theme for the convention was "Threats and Opportunities: Nursing Practice in the New Millennium". The keynote speaker was Karen Daly, President of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, who addressed the serious risk and complications of needle stick injuries.

Cheever elected President of SGA

Sophomore nursing student, Bonnie Cheever, has been elected by the SSC student body as the new President of the Student Government Association.

 

Fatima Abdalla a freshman nursing student was also elected as the sophomore representative to SGA for AY 2000-2001.
