The keynote address was enthusiastically presented by Lucielle Grudenskas RN MS GNP who is a doctoral candidate at the University of Massachusetts/Boston. Ms. Grudenskas is employed at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She completed the BSN program at Northeastern University and her MS at Boston College in the Nurse Practitioner Program. Her experience includes nursing education as a clinical nurse specialist and as a faculty member at Mass Bay Community College. In addition, she was a clinical advisor for graduate students at Regis College. She was also the nurse manager in |
the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Atlanticare Medical Center. In her inspiring address Ms. Grudenskas discussed the challenge of caring for our growing population of elderly patients, utilizing holistic nursing - and the importance of interdisciplinary partnerships with other health care providers to promote health and wellness. She explained that "caring is the art of nursing - the essence of the profession. Nurses learn to combine caring with science to maximize patients' wellness." The class gift was a donation to the Worcester Fireman's Relief Fund.
