First Class of 2000
Celebrates at Holiday Luncheon

A very happy group of senior nursing students completed the program on December 16, 1999. In honor of their achievement Dean Diane Lapkin hosted a special holiday luncheon in Presidential Hall for the 33 graduates. A warm welcome was extended to the graduates, faculty and staff by Professor Vilma D'Mello who coordinated this celebration with Professors Nancy Ebersole and Margie Laccetti.

Dean Lapkin and Professor Joanne Turco, Acting Chairperson, congratulated the graduates on completing such a difficult and challenging program, and urged them to do their very best on the NCLEX licensing exam for registration in the nursing profession.

JoAnn Mackey encouraged the graduates to continue their education and to deepen their commitment to nursing.

As President of SNA, Lindsay Moore captured their attention with the theme "Oh The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seusse. She thanked them for their many contributions to the SNA organization during their years at Salem State College.

Dr. Howard Weiner, class speaker, discussed
therapeutic relationships, and relationships in the
curriculum- such as healing in nursing, and he
delighted the group with a poem about the
rehabilitation clinical experience!
