Salem State University announced today the appointment of Lexington resident Beth Marshall to head its human resources and equal opportunity department. Ms. Marshall assumed her position on June 1. The new assistant vice president for human resources has held a number of senior-level positions in the same arena for prestigious Boston and California organizations including Harvard Medical School, Harvard Divinity School, the University of Massachusetts-Boston, and UCLA Medical School. She currently serves as a consultant to The Career Collaborative and a member of the Mt. Auburn Hospital Auxiliary Board of Directors.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, from which she received both her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in library science, Ms. Marshall comes to Salem State University with extensive experience in labor relations and success focusing the creative efforts of organizational staff toward reality-driven change.
“As Salem State University expands to meet the growing needs of the region,” noted Executive Vice President Stanley Cahill, “it increasingly requires an experienced human resources professional knowledgeable in the intricacies of policy development, labor and employee relations, compensation, and union issues. Beth Marshall comes to us with a wealth of experience in industry best practices, and is the ideal candidate for the university at this time.”
