The mathematics major prepares students for careers in industry, government, and education that require creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The Bachelor of Science - Mathematics is designed for students wishing to pursue specific areas of mathematics in depth. The Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics offers the student a broad acquaintance with the major areas of mathematics. Students intending to pursue a career in teaching mathematics at the secondary level must minor in Secondary Education and choose either the Bachelor of Science - Mathematics or the Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics for the major.

The Bachelor of Arts - Mathematics requires a minimum of 127 semester credit hours. A minor consisting of 15-18 credit hours in a subject area or in an interdisciplinary program is required. Proficiency in a foreign language is also required. For details about satisfying the foreign language requirement, please consult the College Catalog. In addition to the mathematics major core courses, 18 credit hours must be chosen from the Approved List of Electives.
